I used numbers as a gateway to get into more complex types of lettering. I think the mechanical qualities of numbers allow them to be adorned and overworked, yet leave their meanings ambiguous.
This was the base silkscreen for catch. Everything was drawn by hand for this one. No computers, no printing. Since I’m on the computer all day at work, it was a good break from that.
Here’s the rough sketch I did for an etching dedicated to tetraphobia, which I experienced first-hand when visiting Asia. This one was drawn with a whole lot of fountain pen. Also digital-free.
I may return to doing numbers, once my plate is cleared up a bit.
